Washburn students, faculty and public were surprised that the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was on campus Wednesday Nov. 2, 2023.
The Wienermobile has been an icon for Oscar Mayer since 1936 and has celebrated many different moments over its time on the road.
Chloe Van Caseseele, the spokesperson and driver, also known as the hotdogger, first came to campus to talk with a business marketing class about how she works as a wienermobile hotdogger.
“We bring the Wienermobile all across the country in a different city every week,” said Van Caseseele. “We can make someone smile and make some magic.”
Van Caseseele said that in the last five months she has been to 14 states across the United States.
While parked, there were many people who came out to see the mobile as well as pulled in off the streets of Topeka to stop and take a photo.
Faculty such as Haydee Reyes-Alvarado, assistant director of student involvement and development, wanted to experience the Wienermobile before it left campus.
“It’s one of those iconic things that you’ve always seen on social media or hear about,”Reyes-Alvardo said. “I wanted to see what the big hype [was] and it honestly lives up [to]it.”
It is unknown when or if the Wienermobile has ever come to campus before. You can track the Wienermobile and see where it will be today or in the next week.
