When the holiday’s aren’t so cheerful
Hello everyone! 😊
Can you believe that we only have three more Wednesdays until a new year is upon us? I really like this time of year.
You know, after all the hardships and havocs that came along with 2020, I can genuinely say that I am looking forward to a fresh beginning.
However, before we go any further, I’d like to address one thing: when life is hard, the holidays can be even harder. Not everyone is able to spend time with their family/friends, have real conversations or even enjoy authentic moments.
Or maybe you are surrounded by loved ones, but still feel alone.
You can be the life of the party, and a part of every conversation, and deep down, still feel despair.
The problems that we face in life don’t just disappear because of a certain holiday or new year. They may stay, while all along, you feel pressured to be in a “happy” mood or act a certain way.
That’s rough. It’s hard, and I’ve been there before.
Going forward, I’d like to share a few tips and tricks that have helped me get through the holiday blues.
- Don’t stress yourself out by trying to create the “perfect” day. It doesn’t exist.
- If you have too much going on, let your family and friends know. It is OK to say no.
- Set aside differences and talk about things that bring you joy and peace.
- Treat yourself! Self-care is extremely important.
- If you can, open up to someone; you don’t have to struggle alone.
- Give to someone in need.
I hope that at least one of these tips resonate with you!
