Drinks all around

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I thought it would be a good idea to provide a few good, festive drinks. There is always Irish beer as the standby, but I have set out to provide something a little different from the usual. I need to clear up a couple of details. First, a jigger is a 1.5 ounce measure used in cocktail recipes. Second, I am not to be held responsible for the things you do that could be deemed stupid while you drink these. Otherwise, enjoy!
Dirty Irishman
1 jigger Irish cream liqueur1 jigger Irish whiskeyFill a short glass with ice, and pour in the Irish cream liqueur and Irish whiskey. Stir and serve. Prep time – two minutes Ready in – two minutes

The Oatmeal Cookie Drink
1 ounce Jagermeister 1 ounce Irish Cream Liqueur 1 ounce Butterscotch Schnapps 1/2 ounce Cinnamon Schnapps Raisins, for garnish, optional Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass over ice.

Guinness Stout Ice Cream
1 cup Guinness stout (or any stout beer) 1 cup whole milk 2 cups cream 2 ounces glucose syrup 1 cup sugar 1 cup egg yolks Bring beer, milk, cream, glucose and sugar to a boil, drizzle into the egg yolks while whisking vigorously. Heat to 185 degrees, stirring constantly and pour through a fine sieve and chill over an ice bath. When ice cream base is cold, freeze in an ice cream machine.

Irish Car Bomb
1/2 ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream1/2 pint Guinness Stout1/2 ounce Jameson’s Irish whiskeyFirst, pour chilled 1/2 pint of Guinness into beer mug, let it settle, then take a shot filled with a 1/2 ounce of Irish whiskey on the bottom, topped with a 1/2 ounce of Irish cream on top. Finally drop shot in mug and chug.

Irish Old-Fashioned
Take 1/2 lump of sugar, crush sugar with a dash of Angostura Bitters, add ice cubes, a shot of Irish whiskey, a twist of lemon peel, one slice of orange and a cherry. Stir and serve in a wide glass.

Irish Coffee
Heat a stemmed whiskey goblet; pour in one jigger of Irish whiskey, 3 cubes of sugar. Fill goblet to within 1 inch of brim with black coffee. Stir to dissolve sugar, top with slightly aerated whipped cream, so that the cream floats on top.
