For those who aren’t looking to spend their spring break lying on sandy beaches or sailing the open seas on a cruise, a closer and possibly more cost-efficient source of entertainment may be just the ticket.

Just think back to those wonderful childhood vacations to good ol’ Branson, Mo. The town is chock full of entertaining shows and dining establishments, as well as plenty of putt-putt and go-cart options. It may not be the top college vacation spot, but for some that may be just the thing they need.

The Lake of the Ozarks, famous for its clear waters and fine fishing, offers avid outdoorsmen a chance to sit back, relax and catch up on some angling. Sleeping quarters come in all shapes and sizes, including log cabins, resorts, bed and breakfasts, condos and the average hotel. Camping is also available for those who like to sleep under the stars.

On www.bransontourismcenter.com guests can purchase several packages for their stay that include lodging, tickets to shows, meal vouchers and coupon books. The cheapest package available in March is the “Super Savings Package,” which includes three days and two nights of economy lodging, a meal voucher and two shows. However, this package does not include some of the major shows like Dixie Stampede, Yakov or the Branson Belle. The “Ride the Ducks” tour is available, however.

The next package is the “Branson Tourism’s Favorite.” For ten dollars more, guests get boosted up to standard lodging, which is well worth the money. The “Dixie Stampede Package,” which runs guests up to $249, includes the same deal as the “Favorite” but substitutes the second show with two tickets to the Stampede.

Those wanting to make the most out of their trip can get the “Silver Dollar City Package,” which is the same as the “Dixie Stampede Package” except that it comes with two tickets to the Stampede and two for Silver Dollar City.

For those who aren’t interested in a package deal there are, of course, other options. Orbitz.com is offering a deal for Still Waters Resort for only $48 per night. The tourism center offers tickets to Silver Dollar City for $51.59 for a two-day ticket. Tickets to see the world-renowned Yakov Smirnoff cost $35.71, and a ticket to ride the “Ducks” is $21.20.
