Portable webcasts, audio response systems and an advanced emergency simulator will be a few of the latest technologies demonstrated this Tuesday on campus. Microsoft Across America, Dynamic Computer Solutions of Topeka and Washburn University have teamed up to bring one of the nation’s biggest technological events to town.

On April 1 the public is invited to the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center for the Washburn Technology Fair and Surplus Sale. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, also called WorkSmart, brings together a collaboration of vendors specializing in security and mobility. The vendors will provide hands-on technology demonstrations of the latest innovations as well as six seminars and a surplus sale.

Phil Tysinger, sales and marketing manager for Dynamic Computer Solutions, is looking forward to learning more about the newest advancements. Dynamic Computer Solutions is the only Microsoft Gold Certified Partner in Topeka and works hard to be at the helm of the latest technologies.

“This event applies to both students and non-students,” said Tysinger. “But for as much as students are on the computer, anything that can help them work faster is better.”

Demonstrators will include Interwrite, NewTek Tricaster, Sprint Wireless Data, Xirrus Wireless Networks and the Washburn School of Nursing as well as the Law School and Mabee Libraries. Vendors include these demonstrators as well as Apple Computer, KTWU Public Television, Belkin, Enterasys, ObjectWorld, OKI and WatchGuard.

The School of Nursing will demonstrate the SimMan Advanced Patient, where students will

use a portable advanced simulator to practice uncommon scenarios they may face in real life. It is multi-functional and can be used by a wide range of health care professionals in all areas of patient care.

The InterWrite Audio Response System combines the latest technologies to enhance classroom productivity. Using wireless remotes, students can answer questions and record their responses at the touch of a button. This allows teachers to make better use of class time and immediately record grades.

According to Tysinger, seminars will be held throughout the day. The seminars include “Mobilizing Your Business,” “Securing Your Business,” “Secure Infrastructure for the Enterprise,” “Unified Communications,” “New Paradigms in Voice Communications and Managed Services” and “Backup/Disaster Recovery.” All seminars can be registered for online at www.dcstopeka.com.
