April 13, 2008
“Boy Gets Girl” by Rebecca Gilman, which was the Time magazine play of the year in 2000, is about to make its debut at Washburn.
The Andrew J. and Georgia Neese Gray Theatre, located in Garvey Fine Arts Center, will host the production at 8 p.m. Friday. The event is open to the public and admission is $5 per person or free with a Washburn ID.
Theresa Bedell, played by Melissa Treolo, is a reporter who agrees to go on a blind date with a man named Tony, played by Greg Krumins. After dating the man a few times she decides she doesn’t like him after all and tries to end the relationship. Tony, on the other hand, has a much different idea, pushing the issue and becoming a stalker that threatens her and her friends.
The show is directed by Penelope Weiner, assistant professor at Washburn, and the set was designed by associate professor Tony Naylor. Showtimes for the event are at 8 p.m. April 18, 19, 25 and 26, with the matinee at 2 p.m. April 27.
