The ladies of the Delta Gamma Sorority are holding a pancake feed Nov. 14th and 15th. The “Eye-Hop” pancake feed will be held from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday night, and Saturday Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Delta Gamma Sorority House located on 1915 S.W. MacVicar Ave.

“Our philanthropy is mostly to spread awareness about blindness and visual impairment,” said Lindsey Spencer, biology major and vice president coordinator of the event. She said all the women of the house are required to do five hours of service, and they are divided into crew members and crew leaders.

“We also have a golden anchor program which helps the elderly with their eyesight and raises awareness and to inform people to get eye exams,” said Spencer. The fundraising money goes to associations like American Disability Association for diabetics with poor eye sight. Delta Gamma has had a pancake feed before, however the proceeds went toward the sorority. Because the pancake feed turned out so well last year, they decided to do one this year with the proceeds going to the Service for Sight Foundation.

At the Eye-Hop pancake feed, there will be boards up that offer tips for prevention of vision loss, and awareness information about vision for the impaired. Prizes will be given out for the “most beautiful eyes” contest and there will be a box tops contest at midnight on Friday.

“I anticipate $400 or more because we are doing a week full of activities,” said Spencer. “Our goal is to get the campus and Greek Community aware.” Members of Delta Gamma will have an information table in the Memorial Union.

“I think Saturday we will get more people of the community to come, but I know we will get a good turnout from campus because we are doing a lot of PR,” said Spencer. Other events that the women of Delta Gamma are putting on are the ADA Skate-A-Way with the guys from Alpha Delta Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 8-10p.m. and a free movie night Thursday, Nov. 13 from 7-9:30 p.m. in Henderson 100.
