Homecoming Week Kicks Off With Ichabod Race

Every year at Washburn University, homecoming week kicks off with the Ichabod Race.

Greek Life and other student organizations race across campus to find different puzzle pieces that have clues on them that lead them to the next clue and puzzle piece.

The fraternity of Phi Delta Theta was the first team to finish their puzzle.

Briton Alexander of Phi Delta Theta said that even with being tired from the race it took team communication to get the puzzle put together.

The Ichabod Race is not the only competition Phi Delta Theta has been involved with this week.  There is also a banner competition and a top hat competition that took place Monday.

Brition Alexander says that he hopes that people can see that they have put much time and work into them.

The sorority of Zeta Tau Alpha came in second place in the race.

Zeta Tau Alpha member Kaleigh Poole says it was a great way to start off the week.

Poole says there were times when the team did get lost but as long as they could see each other it was fine.

She says that the puzzle may be just a top hat but it makes it hard to put together when you tired from running all across campus.

The Washburn University “Yell Like Hell” event will be taking place Thursday October 21, 2010 in Lee Arena at 7 PM.
