Storytelling event brings awareness to life events
December 3, 2010
November 18 was an important day for Washburn students and community members.
Diversity Initiatives helped present “Other Voices,” a storytelling event which allowed for individuals to speak about tough situations socially, economically, or emotionally they’ve dealt with in their lifespan.
It ranged from students who had grandparents in Mexico without running water and are isolated from technology to students who entered severe depression after a family tragedy.
It allowed the students to shed light in the incidents in hopes of bringing more advocacy and understanding to their causes.
Diversity Initiatives has also put on events about marriage equality, bullying, and immigration so far this semester.
