‘The Avengers’ Movie Review
May 5, 2012
Movies are made to entertain audiences and for Marvel’s “The Avengers” that opened this weekend does just that. I admit that when I went in to see it I was excited but I was expecting to see just a non-stop action movie but it ended up being so much more.
“The Avengers” are a team of people recruited by S.H.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) who each has some sort of unique talent. We know these characters from various Marvel movies that have been released within the last four years. The Avengers are made up of Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Steve Rogers/ Captain America (Chris Evans), Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).
After Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor’s adopted Asgardianbrother threatens war on Earth; Director of S.H.E.I.L.D. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) decides that the only way to stop Loki and his army is to bring these extraordinary characters together as a team. There are plenty of conflicts and fighting against one another along the way but realize that working together as a team is sometimes the only way to stop certain complications. I don’t want to go on too much further on the plot because I know there are still those out there that have yet to see it so I don’t want to spoil it for you.
I was impressed with so many major characters being in the film, each character had their place in the film including the smaller characters who don’t have their own movie. The character progression was done well, the conflicts were never too much and there was plenty of humor in the film that didn’t come off as too cheesy. Everything seemed to have been done right. I don’t think I have ever been to a movie where the audience is cheering and clapping every five minutes.
For those that have been a strong follower, are in to comics then I don’t need to tell you how awesome this movie is because most likely you have already seen it. For those that have seen all the movies following up to this one I strongly recommend going to see it. Something of this magnitude has not been done before and it could have been done wrong but it all seemed to be done right. I’m sure there might be things I do not know about in the Marvel universe and some comic book fans might have found some reasons to dislike this movie but like I said before, movies are made to entertain audiences and believe me when I say this movie entertains.
I give this movie 5 out of 5 Top Hats.
