“House at the End of the Street” is a 2012 horror/thriller about a mother and daughter who move to a new town and end up living next door to a house where a young girl murdered her parents.  The film is directed by Mark Tonderai.

Jennifer Lawrence plays Elissa who befriends the young man Ryan, played by Max Thieriot, who lives in the house and is the son of the parents who were killed and the older brother of the daughter who killed them.

Elissa’s mother, played by Elisabeth Shue, doesn’t trust Ryan and has strong suspicions about him.

The film seems almost a drama throughout the first half and nothing really creepy starts to happen until the end.  You find yourself feeling sorry for Ryan as he is bullied and picked on by the other kids in the town.

Most horror films now days can be so predictable and I thought this one was until it throws a huge curve ball at you and you realize Ryan isn’t so innocent after all.  If you are like me you will walk out of the film thinking, “That was crazy!”

With the film being PG-13 you might find a bunch of annoying teenager in there with you who won’t shut up and can ruin the film for you.

Even though it takes a while to build up, the film’s storyline begins at a good spot in which suspicions of the house automatically come into play.  However it is a film I might say can wait until it is on DVD or on Netflix.
