Student of the Week: Kara Protasio
September 24, 2014
Name: Kara Protasio
Major: Mass Media
Year: Senior
Nominated by: Faculty adviser.
Reason Nominated: For creating a live news broadcast show for her senior mass media project.
Why the project: “I really want to go into the broadcasting field so I was thinking what can I do to help me excel in this area. Then the idea of having my show popped into my head.”
Preparation for the project: “I prepped a little before the summer to get myself ahead and created the format. I also came up for the name, which is KSWU News. Each week it takes about a couple days to prepare for the show. I usually spend the entire Wednesday in the Media Lab just preparing for the show.
Most Excited for: “I just really am excited to see the final project. I’m hoping by the end of the year our last and final show of the semester will be the best one yet, so I’m hoping to develop and get better each week. I love working with my team and I think they are a great group of people to work with and I enjoy it a lot.”
Best quality: “I’m pretty determined to get this done. A lot of people didn’t think that I could pull this off so I guess I’m pretty determined to prove them wrong.”
Watch her live news show every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Youtube. Just search KSWU News.
