Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell shares information with registered voters.

First, voters may view their Sample Ballots and find the location of their Voting Place at: https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/. Due to the configuration of the various districts including those for state representative, county commission, township clerk and the Sherwood Improvement District, Howell said there are 222 different ballot styles in Shawnee County for this election.

Sample Ballots allow voters to review which candidates are on the ballot for their specific voting precinct prior to voting. There are also two ballot questions for all voters.

One is a Kansas Constitutional Amendment question dealing with non-profit raffles and the other is a countywide sales tax question. It is important for voters to cast ballots at their designated voting place in order to vote the ballot for their given precinct.

Secondly, it’s “Road Construction Season” and many projects are underway in Topeka and Shawnee County. Some may affect a voter’s usual route to their voting place. Access is available to all Shawnee County voting places, but alternate routes/access may be necessary for some locations.

Voters who receive an advanced mail ballot must return the voted ballot to the Election Office not later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4. Howell said, “These ballots must be in the possession of the Election Office by the time the polls close on Election Day. Hand delivery is acceptable.

The Election Office cannot guarantee US Postal Service delivery times, so voters should be mindful of that when mailing ballots back to the office. Sometimes it takes awhile and we cannot accept any ballots after 7 p.m.”
