Ichabod volleyball takes win against SD Mines

Washburn won their 18th season opener against the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers during the 2015 Washburn Invitational on Friday, Sept. 4.
Participating teams include the Augustana Vikings, the Black HIlls State Yellowjackets, the Drury Panthers, The Emporia State Hornets, the Missouri Southern Lions, the Pittsburg State Gorillas, the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers and the lady Ichabods.
To start Washburn’s schedule, they took on the Hardrockers for the their first match.
Washburn won the game in three sets, 25-23 in the first, 25-19 in the second and 25-16 in the third to sweep the Hardrockers.
Sarah Vicory and Leanna Willer led the game with six kills each. Vicory had three blocks and Willer had two aces. Korie Thompson, Carley Swan and Taylor Selk each had five kills, with Shayla Conner getting two.
Paige Regnier, Alyssa Carney, Jordan Hoffman, Tatiana Schafer and Liz Powell had one kill each.
Powell led assists with a total of 13 and Conner with 11. Carney had 15 digs, Willer and Powell both had 11.
Washburn will finish their Invitational against the Augustana Vikings at 6:30 p.m.
