Leanna grew up in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and her family was very active. She grew up playing almost every sport available and was always busy doing something. In high school, she played volleyball and basketball and ran track all four years. Aside from sports, she was involved in other extracurricular activities such as activities within her church.

She wanted to continue to play volleyball in college because of the scholarship she will receive and it was her favorite sport out of the three that she was playing.

Leanna was originally going to attend Washburn because Coach Herron started recruiting her, but once she made a visit to Washburn she knew that this is where she wanted to be.

Once she made her visit, she loved everything about Washburn, including the campus layout, the student-centered atmosphere and the supportive culture surrounding the Washburn students.

Leanna is a Mathematics in Secondary Education major with a minor in Leadership Studies and Spanish.
