This assembly seat was reserved for the representative from UN Women, the United Nations organization that centralizes its efforts on gender equality and women’s empowerment. I think it highlights women’s leadership in areas not typically thought of as ‘women’s work.’ Here, women led the conversation and laid the groundwork for reform.
