June 6, 2016
Randy Pembrook, vice president for academic affairs, has accepted the position of chancellor at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. He begins in his new position in August.
Pembrook, who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Southern Illinois University, joined Washburn in 2011. In his time here, Pembrook tallied up many accomplishments, one of which was establishing the Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning, or C-TEL, which provided resources to faculty to improve students’ learning experience.
Washburn President Jerry Farley will appoint an interim vice president for academic affairs before starting a national search for a permanent replacement, according to a news release.
