Bod Brief: Rachel Cantor to speak at iRead lecture

Washburn’s 2016-2017 iRead novel is “A Highly Unlikely Scenario” by Rachel Cantor. The book follows the main character, Leonard, a fast-food customer service worker who receives an unusual phone call from Christopher Columbus one evening while working. The satirical novel gives readers an opportunity to openly think about science, geography and history.
Rachel Cantor is a New York native, but grew up in Rome, Italy. In addition to writing novels, also works as a freelance writer for nonprofits that work in developing countries. Because of this title, she has most recently worked in the countries of Nigeria, Senegal and Laos.
The event will be held in the Washburn A/B Room of the Memorial Union on Thursday Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Mabee Library on Washburn’s campus or the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.
