Fashion is a way for students to show their personalities and styles. At Washburn, students wear different types of outfits—some dress up, while others keep it casual. Here is what a few students had to say about their fashion choices.
Alexis Mitchell – Classy and Feminine
For Mitchell, a sophomore business studies major, fashion is more than just clothes—it’s about confidence and making a statement. She wore a white bodycon dress with an outer to give a polished, feminine look. She added simple accessories to complete the outfit, which reflected her role as president of Blue Sisterhood. Her style was classy and showed confidence.
Indira Tiongson – Thoughtfully Coordinated
Indira Tiongson, freshman political science major, likes to dress with meaning. She wore white high-waisted pants from Stradivarius, a purple corset top she bought at Plato’s Closet and a knitted cardigan from Pull & Bear. Her hair was styled in a claw clip that perfectly complemented her outfit, giving off a Pinterest-worthy vibe. She planned her outfit because she was going to brunch with old high school friends.
“In high school, my friends and I used to wear our favorite colors when we hung out,” Indira said.
Purple was her favorite color so she decided to wear purple on the special day.
DeMarques Hinds – Street Casual
DeMarques Hinds, sophomore business management major, prefers a street casual style. He wore Timberland boots, jeans from Zoomies, a Hello Kitty jacket and a Ken Carson shirt.
“I just wanted to wear something casual, something street casual, so I put on the all-black with the Timbs,” Hinds said.
His outfit is a mix of comfort and urban fashion, making a bold yet simple statement.
Sidney Anderson – Simple and Comfortable
Sidney Anderson, freshman psychology major, likes to dress with meaning and comfortably but still look good. She wore a white cardigan, a green shirt and black pants. The outfit was simple but stylish, perfect for a day without classes. She put it on because she wanted something easy and comfortable.
Campus Fashion is Unique
Some students dress up, while others keep it simple. But no matter what they wear, fashion is a way for them to express who they are.
