The Office of Student Involvement and Development hosted a Minute To Win It event March 4 at 6 p.m. to gather students for fun and enjoyment to spend quality time together.
“The main purpose of this event is to bring students together to socialize, engage and have fun and create a vibrant campus,” said Isaiah Bryant-Collier, director of OSID.
The Minute To Win It games gave students one minute to complete various different tasks, which rewarded them with an envelope with a prize inside.
The vision was further emphasized by the event coordinator, who explained that the goal was to foster a sense of community and inclusivity among students.
“I just like the challenges and I like students pushing their limits and choosing to continue to go to a different challenge,” Bryant-Collier said.
Students invited their friends to participate in the competitions.
“It was really fun,” said Evelyn Woitalewcz, freshman entrepreneurship major. “I am glad that I won a medium size good quality speaker but it would have been okay if I didn’t, because the experience itself was enjoyable. I wanted to hang out with my friends, and we all got to wear our costumes and have fun together.”
Despite there not being a lot of people, the students who did attend enjoyed the games.
“There definitely should have been a lot more people because it was really fun and entertaining,” said Maddy Heigert, sophomore political science major. “In addition, I love Minute To Win It games, and my friends wanted to come with me, so I figured it would be a great experience for us.”
As students enjoyed the event, OSID might have to do it again in the future.
“Absolutely, I would definitely attend this event again,” said Ayden Olguin, freshman forensic anthropology major. “It was a lot of fun, especially just getting to hang out with people, particularly my friends here.”
OSID events can be viewed on Washburn’s event calendar.
