The Washburn Student Government Association met Nov. 6 for its weekly senate meeting to discuss end-of-year goals and to approve funding for Washburn University’s clubs and organizations.
Trevor Ottman stated his goals and achievements for the WSGA organization for the end of the year.
“I really wanted to just leave the club better than I found it,” Ottman said. “My main goal is to have a senate that’s happy and engaged and then also have a senate that can really be set up to help the most amount of people as possible.”
The Graduate Association for Psychology Students, the Physics Club, and the Biology Club requested money for various end-of-the-year events and all requests were granted.
Dante Jordan, campus community affairs director, is working with iCard on the Get app to decrease the required funding from $25 dollars to five dollars, so some of the less fortunate students won’t have such a hard time.
President JuliAnn Mazacheck presented some master plans for campus development. She mentioned that Washburn is looking to open up some green spaces around campus and asking for inspiration on names for the East Union Lawn.
The meeting concluded with potential names for the East Union Lawn. Some ideas included The Bod Lawn, Icha Lawn, Squirrel Square and Lincoln Lawn.
