There’s an election coming up Nov. 5 and it involves more than just the presidential candidates.
Regardless of which way people lean when it comes to politics, voters should be making an informed decision before casting their ballot.
By doing research, voters are able to become better informed on what the candidates choose based on what aligns with one’s beliefs.
Here’s a full list of Kansas candidates running in the November election.
Everyone knows that this election decides the next president. The two main candidates are Donald Trump, former president, and Kamala Harris, current vice president.
Trump is the Republican Party’s candidate running with J.D. Vance as his vice president nominee. Trump’s website gives information on his stance for topics such as the economy, borders, crime, patriotism, veterans and more.
Harris chose Tim Walz as her running mate and they are the candidates for the Democratic Party. Her website gives her position on issues related to taxes, healthcare, social security, climate change, reproductive rights and more.
There are other people running for president as well, such as Chase Oliver as the Libertarian candidate. For the Green Party, Jill Stein is running. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was running for president but then suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump.
While each candidate’s websites give an inside look as to what they hope to do in the future, it isn’t completely objective. Ballotpedia is a good source for people to get an unbiased view of each candidate.
Next on the ballot is Congress. For the representative of the second congressional district, there are three people running. For the Republican Party, Derek Schmidt is the candidate. John Hauer is associated with the Libertarian Party for his campaign. Nancy Boyda is running for the Democratic Party.
The Kansas Senate has four various parts in Shawnee County: districts 3, 18, 19 and 20.
Voters can scroll down on Ballotpedia and see who is running for each district.
For the Kansas House of Representatives, there are eight open seats in various districts. Races are on the line for districts 50, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57 and 58.
Other items on the ballot are the Kansas State Board of Education, Shawnee County government, judicial retention and townships.
Voters can do their own research on credible websites for their choice of candidate. Being informed is necessary when these people are entering positions of power and have a hand in people’s everyday lives.

Kansans can view a sample ballot of what will be on their specific ballot by going to VoterView: Kansas Secretary of State and typing in their information.
