Students attending Washburn University got the opportunity to find possible on-campus jobs at the On-Campus Job Fair, which was held Thursday, Aug. 22, in Washburn A/B.
The On-Campus Job Fair gave many students the opportunity to be involved on campus whether they live on or off campus.
“I just moved here, and I was looking for some jobs, so I thought it would be easiest if I could find a job on campus,” said Colton Evans, a freshman elementary education major. “It’s definitely a good way to get involved and to get those opportunities to get a job.”
Seth Shay, a freshman business major, and other students said they want to look for employers who will work with their desired schedules.
“I’m looking for someone that would work with my hours around school,” Shay said.
Other students, like Brooke Branner, a freshman chemistry major, searched for jobs that would pave the path to their future careers.
“I was mainly just looking for what jobs were available. I’ve heard about student ambassadors, and I was interested in that, and they were there. So, it was very useful,” Branner said.
On-campus job opportunities include being an ambassador for career engagement, an architect office intern, an athletic training student aid, a chemistry stockroom teaching assistant, a data entry assistant, and many more.
The next career fair will be the Health Care Career Fair, which will take place Oct. 9 in Washburn A/B in Memorial Union from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
