Matthew Simpson has been named as permanent captain for the Washburn University Police Department according to a university relations press release.

Simpson had served in this position on an interim basis since former captain Chris Enos was named chief of the department in May.

“Matt has proven himself a very able police officer and a good leader,” said Enos. “He has earned this key position in our department.”

Simpson joined the department in 2015 after previously serving with the Potawatomi Tribal Police in Mayetta, Kansas and Auburn-Washburn USD 437 Police.
