Washburn lands No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament

After storming through the MIAA conference tournament, the Ichabods added to their impressive resume that had been building up over the season with tournament wins against University of Nebraska at Kearney and Fort Hays State. Unfortunately in the MIAA championship game over the weekend Washburn fell to the Bearcats in a tight matchup. Later in the day, the Ichabods were selected by the NCAA committee to be the seventh seed in the Central Region facing off against the second seeded Northern State Wolves. Lady Blues softball starts the season 13-6

After going through the first stretch of the season the Washburn softball team was high rolling into their current series against Rockhurst University and the University of Central Oklahoma. The Ichabods were 10-5 heading into these series landing an at home matchup against the Hawks and the Bronchos. The Lady Blues put away the Hawks by an impressive full series win, while the Ichabods fought off the Bronchos in the first game with a walk-off walk. For the second game the Ichabods fell scoreless to the Bronchos 4-0.

No. 21 ranked Washburn men’s tennis continues hot start

After starting off the season with a loss the Ichabods have now won five straight as they cap off their match against Newman University with a victory setting their record at 5-1. The tennis team now looks to face off against Northwest Missouri State as they continue their season. Washburn will expect to climb up the ITA rankings this week with their current wins.

Washburn track and field end this year’s indoor season

The Ichabods ended their indoor season at the MIAA Championships this year as they were not selected for NCAA Nationals at Pittsburg, Kansas. With their impressive performance at the MIAA Championships after breaking multiple school records, the Ichabods will start preparing for their outdoor season with conditioning and training.
