SRWC to host intramural basketball games this week
January 10, 2007
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will host four nights of intramural basketball contests from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6 to Thursday, Feb. 9.
Entry forms are not required to participate in the contest, and winners of each event will receive a champion T-shirt. There is both a men’s and women’s division.
The contests include three different areas: 3-point, free throw and hot shot. Participants in the 3-point contest will shoot from five different locations around the 3-point line. At each location, participants will shoot five times, with the last shot earning double points, to total 25 shots in all. Each shot made, excluding the final shot at each location, will tally one point. At the end of the contest, the person with the most points will be declared the winner.
The free-throw contest awards the contestant with the most free throws out of 50. Each person will have a chance to shoot 25 baskets at the free-throw line. If at least 20 of the 25 are made, that person moves on to shoot an extra 25 free throws.
Finally, the hot shot contest is a timed event. In one minute, contestants try to make as many baskets as possible from various marked spots on the court. No two consecutive baskets can be made from the same spot on the court. The contestant with the most points wins.
Participants do not need to compete in all three events.
