Bookstore hosts murder mystery for homecoming week

This year’s Homecoming theme is “Bod… Ichabod 007,” and what better way to accommodate Mr. Bo(n)d than by having a murder mystery? The IchaFrog has been murdered and only Washburn faculty, staff and students have the ability to solve the crime.

The Washburn Bookstore has set up a murder mystery series where the mascots from MIAA schools are the prime suspects. The staff will be releasing photo clues on the bookstore Web site, www.washburnbookstore.com, starting today. The last clue will be given Friday, Oct. 19. People who believe they have solved the crime can submit their guess by filling out a murder mystery entry form and taking it to the bookstore by 5 p.m. Oct. 19.

The suspects are the Mule, the Hornet, the Tiger, the Lion, the “Bear,” the Gorilla, the Bearcat and the Bulldog.

The following is a direct press release further explaining the murder fiasco:

It was dark and stormy on the night of Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Washburn University Bookstore. While all the animals were supposed to be asleep, one committed a crime. But which one?

Enjoying frequent visits from happy customers, the Mule, the Hornet, the Tiger, the Lion, the “Bear,” the Gorilla, the Bearcat and the Bulldog had all lived contentedly in the bookstore. In fact, they had formed an Unregistered Organization-the MIAA, or Mostly Inanimate Animal Association.

Everything seemed fine… until Oct. 15, that Monday morning when the employees came to work and found that the IchaFrog had croaked.
