Bassoonist to perform in concert with Washburn Symphony Orchestra

TOPEKA- Bassoonist and contra bassoonist Leyla Zamora will be the featured guest at the Washburn Symphony Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in White Concert Hall on the WU campus. No admission is charged and the public is welcome.

A member of the San Diego Symphony, Zamora studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow, Russia; Baylor University, Waco, Texas; and De Paul University, Chicago, Ill. She previously held the principal bassoon position with the Memphis Symphony and has performed with the Costa Rican National Symphony, the Auckland (New Zealand) Philharmonia and the Seattle Symphony.

The program will include Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra in E minor No. 6, RV 484 by Vivaldi, Semblaza for Bassoon & Orchestra by Guiterrez and Serenade in E major, Op. 22 by Dvorak.
