Stovall’s 1st half goal and Klone’s shutout propels Lady Blues to win

Washburn SID

Washburn’s Tia Stovall, fresh off her school-record-tying three assist performance in the Lady Blues 4-3 win over Southwest Baptist, scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Rockhurst in non-conference action in Yager Stadium as the Lady Blues won their third straight match. Washburn will be back in action on Saturday when they will play host to MIAA play facing Missouri Southern at 6 p.m.

Stovall’s match-winner came in the 37th minute into the lower right hand corner of the goal past Rockhurst’s Alyssa Miller as the only goal of the match. It was her first goal of the season.

In net for the Lady Blues, Ashley Klone picked up the win and the 10th shutout of her Washburn career. The shutout was her second of the season and her second in the last three matches. Klone finished with three saves.

The Lady Blues outshot the Hawks 10 to 5 and attempted two corner kicks in each half while Rockhurst did not attempt one.

Lauren Henry had four shots to pace the Lady Blues’ attack with two coming on goal. Stovall finished with three shots and Brittany Tracz had two shot attempts.
