Friday night Washburn seniors and graduate students took the next step in their academic careers.

The evening saw a filled-to-capacity Lee Arena as the setting for the 395 students who walked across the stage to receive their various honors and degrees. Prior to the beginning of the actual ceremony, Washburn president Jerry Farley addressed the assembled graduates and spoke on the theme of civility.

Farley said during his remarks that students should be mindful of the world and how, now more so than ever, there are just as many forces pulling people apart as bringing them together. He finished up his remarks praising the students and their efforts and wishing them well in the future. 

Next came recognition of the Sibberson award winners from 2010. The Sibberson award is given in recognition of the highest ranking senior member of the undergraduate program at Washburn University. The award recognizes students who completed degrees during the most recent academic semester.
