The Washburn Ichabods hosted Fort Hays State on Sunday Nov. 3 at Yager Stadium. But before the game started the Ichabods celebrated the careers of three seniors, Olivia Grasso, Emma Wetzel and Emily Gartner.
The Ichabods took off right from the start scoring their first goal in the seventh minute of the match. Josie Rimmer scored a header off the assist from Grasso. Washburn kept the Tigers scoreless in the first half only allowing Fort Hays State to take four shots on goal.
The Tigers tied up the match in the 75th minute with a goal by Cailey Perkins and would later score another goal off a winning free kick giving the Tigers a 2-1 win over the Ichabods.
Wells finished the match with nine saves. Rimmer tallied one goal and two shots on goal. Grasso took three shorts on goal and had one assist for the Ichabods.
The top eight teams in the MIAA standings move on to the conference tournament. The Ichabods are currently tied for eighth place with Rogers State in the MIAA standings. Washburn would win the tiebreaker with the Hillcats and advance to the conference tournament if Rogers State falls to Central Oklahoma.
