Jeff Corwin to visit Washburn this week

Emmy-winning television personality, author and biologist, Jeff Corwin will pay a visit to Washburn this week as part of his “Tales from the Field with Jeff Corwin”tour.

Corwin, best known as the host of Animal Planet’s “The Jeff Corwin Experience” and “Corwin’s Quest,” along with his animal friends, will deliver a presentation on endangered species and Eco-conservation. The event will take place at White Concert Hall at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29th. 

Washburn students can get in free with their Washburn ID but there is a suggested donation of five (5) cans or $2 to go towards Can Emporia. The event is open to the public for $2 or a five (5) can donation. Tickets may be obtained in advance from the Student Activities and Greek Life office in the Union or at the door. There will be no priority seating as it will be a first come, first serve seating. Doors open at 6:30PM.

Corwin has worked for the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems around the globe. Through education and awareness, he believes these vital elements of our planet can be conserved for future generations.

For nearly 20 years, Jeff has produced and hosted a variety of popular television series broadcasted on networks like Disney Channel, Discovery Channel, NBC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel and the Food Network. Presently, Jeff is executive producer and host of the award winning weekly series, Ocean Mysteries, airing weekends on ABC stations nationally. Each week on Ocean Mysteries, Jeff opens viewers’ eyes to the extraordinary stories that lie beneath our oceans while enhancing our understanding about our ocean’s life-sustaining value to the planet. In addition to exploring the state of our planet’s wildlife and ecology, Jeff has serves as an environmental and science correspondent for CNN, CBS and NBC news. Jeff’s wildlife and conservation work has been regularly featured on a variety of broadcasting networks including CNN, FOX, Good Morning America, The Today Show, CBS Morning Show, The Ellen Show,Rachael Maddows,The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brian, Regis and Kelly and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Beyond television, Jeff has partnered with the Wittaker Center to produce the film Expedition Chesapeake, and with Rodale to publish the book 100 Heartbeats. Beyond print, Jeff has launched Jeff Corwin’s Explorer Series, which consist of interactive, multi-media ebooks focusing wildlife. Jeff is also the author of Living on the Edge: Amazing Relationships in the Natural World.
