WU announcement October 10

Today as I came across campus I encountered Baili Zhang from International House.  He urged me to spread the word to my majors, and I decided to share with all students in the social science division of the college, concerning an event happening October 16 here on this campus.  If you entertain thoughts of traveling overseas during your college career, Director Zhang, Andy Vogel, Tina Williams, and Heidi Staerkel are people you need to impress and get to know.  This China Town Hall is a great way to make yourself known.  Here’s the announcement:

China Town Hall is a national day of programming involving about 70 cities throughout the United States. It provides an exciting opportunity for community members to reflect on, and discuss the importance and regional relevance of our country’s relationship with China.

The eighth annual China Town Hall on October 16 will feature a national webcast with President Jimmy Carter, moderated by Mr. Stephen A. Orlins, President, National Committee on United States-China Relations. For more information, please visit http://www.ncuscr.org/cth.

Following the webcast with President Jimmy Carter, Professor Virginia Harper Ho from the University of Kansas School of Law will offer expert remarks on current issues in Chine…se law and legal reform. Her remarks will draw parallels between legal processes in China and the U.S.-China relationship.

There will be the opportunity for audience members to submit questions in advance of the town hall (in addition to submitting questions during the webcast). https://www.etouches.com/esurvey/questions.

This program is free and open to the public, but advance registration is encouraged. You may register at www.irckc.org/event/CTHTopeka. Please register here. For venue questions, please contact Andy Vogel at 785-670-2344785-670-2344.
