Homecoming Week starts tonight with formal ball

Homecoming Week is underway at Washburn University. Take part in the celebration at the Homecoming Ball, Monday, Oct. 13 from 7-10 p.m. in the Memorial Union.

It’s Homecoming Week at Washburn University and the festivities are set to get underway tonight with a charity auction, formal ball and late-night breakfast.

Washburn students are invited to kick off the week in style at the Homecoming Ball, tonight from 7-10 p.m. in the Washburn Room on the main floor of Memorial Union. This cocktail-attire event will feature music, dancing and refreshments. At 8:30, homecoming royalty candidates will be announced. Voting will begin immediately after at my.washburn.edu.

Tonight also marks the beginning of the week-long Top Hat Auction. Student-designed Top Hats will be on display in Memorial Union. Votes for the best design can be cast by dropping spare change into the jar of your favorite hat. Each hat will also be up for silent auction or by donating the ‘buy-it-now’ price of $50. Proceeds will go to benefit the United Way of Greater Topeka.

From 9-10:30 p.m., in the Union Market, Washburn Dining Services and the Memorial Union will offer a late-night breakfast. Get your post-ball munchies fix with French toast, potatoes, sausage links and scrambled eggs, all for $6.
