Washburn University Police Department Off-Campus Safety Bulletin

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the Washburn University Police Department is advising the campus community of:

** Robbery**

Reported Offense:

The Topeka Police Department is investigating a robbery which occurred off-campus at the Washburn Place Apartments, 1900 SW Washburn Avenue. The incident occurred on July 17th, 2015 at approximately midnight. The suspect in this incident approached the victim’s residence and asked to use the restroom in the victim’s apartment. Once inside the apartment the suspect demanded money and property from the victim. The suspect told the victim he had a firearm but never displayed a firearm during the incident. After taking several items the suspect left the apartment and fled the scene on an unknown color mountain bike. It does not appear the suspect was ever on the campus.

The suspect in this incident is described as a white male with brown hair approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. At the time of the incident the suspect was wearing dark pants and was not wearing a shirt. This incident is unresolved and an investigation is ongoing, the Topeka Police case number is 15400-15.
