Pride movie on August 26th

Based on a true story, the film “Pride” depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British Miners Strike of 1984.

At first the Mineworkers were reluctant to accept the group’s support due to cultural and political fears about being openly associated with a gay group. Nonetheless, an alliance (and a lasting friendship) was formed between the two communities.

Come see this powerful and uplifting film that chronicles social movement action, gay rights, and union and labor activism. A mediated discussion held by SO/AN faculty members will follow the movie.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
