WSGA’s First Meeting of the School Year

After a quick call to order, the Washburn Student Government Association started the first meeting of this year’s administration. WSGA’s Advisor Baraclough thanked the senators and other officers for their involvement in welcome week, going on to say it was a huge success.

They then covered Freshman Senate Elections, discussing those who could run as well as talking of other open seats. Aug. 28 will be the deadline for freshman senators, while the Sept. 2 will be election day.

The WSGA then talked of technology issues; the iSave contract renewal and making new icons for Snapchat. They also deleted their current Intragram due to security concerns and made a new one.

“Can Emporia”, the food drive against Emporia State, was then discussed by the organization, talking of how it was important to defeat ESU in not only the football game.

They then stated an increase in funding for the WSGA was approved by university administration.

The WSGA has also helped make “The New York Times” and “USA Today” available online by app via student’s Washburn email address.

Lastly, they swore in 3 new senators before closing the meeting.
