American Red Cross volunteer opportunity

Hello,

My name is Sarah Pederson and this semester I am doing an internship at the American Red Cross through the Washburn University Leadership Institute. I am contacting you to extend a volunteer opportunity through the Red Cross. Volunteering is a great way for you to give back to the community and represent your organization. I believe I have the perfect opportunity for you!

Every year, 2500 people die because of home fires and every 40 minutes a fire-related injury is reported. We can lower these statistics by a simple, yet life changing measure. The Red Cross has a national Home Fire Campaign to reduce home fire deaths and injuries, and YOU can a part of this. The process to become involved is very simple. I would love to meet with you to discuss this great opportunity. If you are interested, we would schedule you for a training event (only an hour) and then sign you up for an event in the community. During this event, you will be assigned to a neighborhood right here in Topeka. You will either install a smoke detector, educate families on fire preparedness, or assist them in making a plan in the case of a fire. I know this may sound daunting, but you will be trained in your role and you will have a certified Red Cross volunteer assisting you.

If you are interested, please email me at [email protected].

Thanks,

Sarah Pederson
