The psychology department will be hosting their biannual picnic outside of Henderson Learning Center on April 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Psychology students will have the possibility of receiving one of the four available scholarships that the department offers.

The scholarships include the Yelen scholarship, the Jarry R. Williams and Jeny Morris Williams scholarship and the Margaret Salustro scholarship, as well as a psychology scholarship given by the department.

Senior administrative assistant, Theresea Young, says she is excited to attend the her first psychology department picnic.

The psychology department’s honor society, Psi Chi, will be hosting the event, which allows students to receive scholarships and mingle with fellow students and professors. A potluck style lunch will also be provided to picnic guests.

RaLynn Schmalzried, professor and Psi Chi advisor, says that the picnic provides psychology department faculty with a casual, fun way to get to know students and also provides students with the chance to get to learn more about their professors as well.

“The picnic happens every year and allows psychology students to come together and celebrate their achievements,” said Schmalzried.
