The study abroad awards ceremony will take place April 29 for those who plan to study abroad during the summer and fall semesters.

“This ceremony is to recognize the students who are receiving awards for their study abroad participation,” said Tina Williams, study abroad coordinator. “We also want to recognize the award winners for being curious and adventurous students.”

More than $150,000 of scholarship funds are given to Washburn students per year. This amount is more than most universities in the area.

Awarded students will study abroad in 12 different countries. These programs include faculty-led summer trips to Barbados, Belgium, China, Japan and Spain. In addition, several students will participate in direct exchange programs beginning in the fall, spanning a semester or an entire academic-year.
