MBB Briefs: Ichabods face exciting opportunity for travel, and victory, in Puerto Rico

This upcoming week, the Washburn Men’s Basketball team will be heading down to San Juan, Puerto Rico for an exciting meeting of teams from all over the country and even outside of the U.S. Coming from the Midwest themselves, Washburn will be facing Northwood University from Michigan, Universidad Metropolitana from Puerto Rico, and Lubbock Christian University from Texas.

The first matchup for the Ichabods is against Northwood University, who hail from Midland Michigan at 12 pm on Wednesday Nov 23. Coming in with no wins at 0-4, Washburn looks to improve their own record against this team. After that game, at 8 am on Friday, Nov 25, Washburn faces Universidad Metropolitana, the home team in this tournament. They are hosting the tournament in their own San Juan, Puerto Rico. Washburn again favorably matches up in this game, seeing as Universidad Metropolitana’s basketball team is an intramural, and they are not as high of competition as the Ichabods are accustomed to facing. Rounding out the week, Washburn will take on Lubbock Christian University from Lubbock, Texas at 10 am on Saturday, Nov 26. This will be the toughest matchup in the tournament, with Lubbock Christian owning a record of 3-2. After losing their first two games, Lubbock Christian has won three in a row and are also looking to improve their record in this tournament.

After staying in a distant place for an extended period and playing two other games, the tired Ichabods will have to rally their strength for one last quality performance. If they do that, Washburn can be looking at coming out of this tournament with three more wins, extending their record to 6-0 to start the season.
