Mulvane Art Fair puts local artists in spotlight

  • Gail Heilmann sells stoneware and porcelain pottery. Heilmann came to the Art Fair from Evergreen, Colorado.

  • Andrew Mitchell tabling at the Mulvane Art Fair. Mitchell is a clockmaker and woodturner based in Lecompton, Kansas.

  • Jandi Burkett showing her jewelry. Burkett is a local metalsmith creating original designs from sterling silver.

  • Heinrich Leonhard playing a mandolin at his booth. Leonhard makes sculptures inspired by traditional Swiss-German art.

  • Shao Lin Xia promoting his aluminum models. Shao Lin Xia and Sompit Xia own the business Can Do Planes which sells handmade models of planes, other vehicles and animals made from aluminum cans.

  • Leather bags displayed at Stephen Snyder’s booth. Snyder owns and operates Kaw Valley Leather Company located in Overland Park.

  • Attendees visiting Joseph Dumas’ tent at the Mulvane Art Fair. Dumas is a blacksmith from Alabama who creates sculpture, yard art and furniture from stone and steel.

The Mulvane Art Museum hosted the 2017 Art Fair June 3 and 4, marking the 25-year anniversary of the fair.

The Mulvane Art Fair featured 80 artists from 14 states. Each artist was provided space to show and sell their work. Student work was also available at the fair.

Proceeds from admission will go to support the museum.
