BRIEF: Washburn volleyball is playoff bound again

After finishing sixth in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, Washburn volleyball is heading to the playoffs for the third season in a row. The Ichabods earned the fifth seed in the Central Region bracket, which will take place in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Washburn finished the season with a 26-5 record overall and 17-3 in conference play. The team made history earlier in the season by reaching the number one national ranking for the first time in program history. Eight players were also named to All-MIAA teams, another program record.

The Ichabods will be matched up against the number four seed Winona State University in the quarterfinals round. The Warriors finished the season 28-4 and were tenth in the final AVCA poll. The two will meet on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
