Bowtie welcomes students

Making Ties: The Bowtie fair offers information from various organizations, departments and offices to help students get involved. President Jerry Farley could make an appearance as well.

It is time for the Memorial Union’s AB room to fill up with stands, food and most importantly, people. The Bowtie Fair is returning from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7. During that time, students will get to know what Washburn is all about.

The room will be packed with tables manned by members of various organizations, clubs, campus departments, fraternities, sororities and study abroad programs. There will be organizations like the Queers and Allies, Dungeons and Dragons club, Love Your Melon and Smashburn. The Financial Aid-Student Employment representatives will be present and eager to help. Campus departments like Modern Languages, Theatre, Women and Gender Studies, School of Business and more will be ready to give students information about what they can expect out of the respective departments. Numerous study abroad programs will be available for students to check out. Not only that, but students will also get an opportunity to connect with each other.

Event-goers can expect over 250 people to be there at a time, which will definitely make for a bustling event. For more information, students can contact the Office of Student Involvement and Development, formerly known as Student Activities and Greek Life.
