Hedgehog vs. Groundhog

1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 16

Save both the hedgehogs and groundhogs. Did you know that hedgehogs are an endangered species? They are in danger from mountains of plastic that threaten our oceans, home planet and all living beings. Help to save the earth for all critters. Create your own hedgehog or beautiful work of art using plastic containers that would otherwise just be waste.

Happiness Family Day

1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on March 23

What is the International Day of Happiness? It’s a day to be happy. Everyone’s welcome to celebrate the International Day of Happiness by making art and enjoying life. The United Nations recognizes the relevance of happiness and well-being as leading the way for a more inclusive and equitable global society.

Every Day is Earth Day

1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 27

People can join hands to protect the precious prairies and Mother Earth. The Grassland Heritage Foundation and Tonantzin Society will guide the way to preserving the natural planets and wildlife for future generations. Free activities include creating prairie-inspired artwork. A native plant sale will be available through the Grassland Heritage Foundation.

Grassland Heritage Foundation provides educational activities to help children and adults understand the uniqueness of prairie ecosystems, their biological diversity, and why it is important to become engaged in helping preserve prairies. More information can be found at www.grasslandheritage.org.

Through cultural awareness, social justice, health and well-being, the Tonantzin Society is committed to helping pave the way for future Chicano, Xicana and Latinx generations in Kansas and the United States. For more information, go to www.tonantzinsociety.com.
