Washburn University to observe Veterans Day

Washburn University

In honor of veterans who have served and those who still serve in our nation’s armed forces, Washburn University will have a Veterans Day observance at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Vietnam veterans memorial site (located at the southeast side of Morgan Hall). The event is free and open to the public. This observance will focus on the unfailing commitment and service by members of the National Guard and Reserves. Maj Gen Tod M. Bunting, adjutant general of Kansas, is the guest speaker. Other activities to take place will be the tolling of the bells at the 11th hour, a wreath placement, 21-gun salute and taps. A reception follows in the upper level lounge in Memorial Union. Pre-ceremony activities include static displays, patriotic music and a cleansing and blessing by Standing Bear Intertribal Brotherhood.
