Daimaru Steak & Sushi Bar a hit in Topeka, offers Hibachi

Deana Smith

Sushi is not the easiest thing to find in Topeka, but the Daimaru Steak & Sushi Bar offers it and much, much more. Located at 1221 S.W. Gage Blvd., a relatively short distance from Washburn University, this recent addition to the restaurants of the capital city is a good one. Where most sushi establishments in our Midwest town may not have an extensive list because of our location, Daimaru has an unbelievably large selection including house specialties.

If you feel like the more common spider roll, Vegas roll, California roll, or feel adventurous and want to try the Fancy Dragon, eel or Octopus, they have got you covered. As a bonus, the sushi is excellent and they offer carryout for those students who need the extra study time. This restaurant also does traditional Hibachi, where a talented and entertaining chef will cook your order in front of you. If you have ever been to an expensive steakhouse and been entertained by talented cooks, you will not be displeased with the delightful show you will get at Daimaru for a portion of the price. In fact, you will have to order sushi, a drink and an entrée to spend as much money as you would at the typical steakhouse (per person). I recommend trying this newer Topeka establishment soon.
