TOPEKA – Soprano Victoria Sofia Botero and the Lawrence Free State High School Orchestra will be special performers at a concert by the Washburn Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, in White Concert Hall on the WU campus. No admission is charged and the public is welcome. Botero will perform “Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5” by Heitor Villa-Lobos, reprising a presentation at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. She is pursuing a master’s degree in vocal performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and teaches at the Kansas City Community School for the Arts. Also on the program will be Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 “Unfinished” by Franz Schubert.The first half of the concert will feature the Lawrence Free State group, directed by Lynn Basow.
