Scorchin’ the Porch

Ben Fitch

Scorch on the Porch launched today under the Memorial Union and cloud cover while the featured Brody Buster Band played an hour-long set with the threat of rain and lightning.

Students intermittently stopped outside the Memorial Union on their way to class to eat an Ichadog or purchase some of the items that the bookstore had for sale. Shirts, books and planners were on display.

Brody Buster Band played an improvisational set of blues and rock, and listeners enjoyed solo breaks by lead vocalist, harmonica and guitar player Brody Buster, drummer Tommy Dimmel and bassist Chris Handley. The band can be seen again at the Jazzhaus, 926 Massachusetts in Lawrence, tomorrow, at 10 p.m. There will be a $3 cover; must be 21 or older to enter.

And Memorial Union Operations will be hosting Scorch on the Porch again, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The theme will be “Talk like a Pirate Day.”
