Gun show on tap for Expo

Do you have your tickets to the gun show?

For some, that question is a comedic play on words referring to their arms but for true gun enthusiasts, that question gets them excited about the U.S. Weapon Collectors Big Gun and Knife Show that is coming to the Kansas Expocentre’s Exhibition Hall this Saturday and Sunday.

The show, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, is one of five shows that come to Topeka each year.

The shows are put on and promoted by R.K. Shows, Inc., based out of Manchester, Iowa office manager, Ryan Payton, said the show is a great place to be if you like weapons and “everything related to the making and buying and selling of guns and knives.”

The gun show, with its 400 tables for vendors, is open to the public and tickets are $8 for adults and $2 for children.

Payton said the best thing about the gun show is “to be able to come in and look at various types and styles from different dealers.”

Colby Jacobson, Expocentre event coordinator for the gun show, said while the tables are often sold out, many participants often bring their old collectables to the show.

“If you come to the show, you can bring a gun to trade or sell to one of the vendors,” said Jacobson. “A lot of people will just bring in a gun to see what it’s worth or see what they can trade it for and try to sell it to a vendor.”

Other upcoming shows at the Expocentre, according to the R.K. Shows Web site, include Dec. 19 and 20 and Jan. 23 and 24.
